Counter Terrible Trump Times By Doing the Right Thing

Trump's continual derogatory, demeaning, dismissive, and dishonest rhetoric, decision making, and use of time stands like a wall between an America that strives to reach its potential and an America that is mired in old think. prejudice, and lethargy.

The wall he imagines is the person he is--an obstruction to a thoughtful, positive, flow of energy, ideas, and action that takes us ahead. We don't need walls, human or created walls, but we do need leadership--people who respectively, positively, and humanely lead us forward with the best of their ability.

When we choose a president, we don't just choose one man or woman, instead we choose someone who will use their good judgement to appoint a leadership team--a group of hard working, invested, and imaginative people who will act on intelligence, experience, and collaboration with the best and brightest to lead our country ahead.

The problem with Trump is that somehow he got the electoral vote. We've yet to specifically see how much of that vote was due to his reputation, speak, and ideas and how much was due to the Russian cyber attack on our electoral system, yet whatever happened, he did win the presidency. And when he won his brought his cronies aboard--people who were related to him, worked with or for him in the past, and/or donated lots of money to his campaign. His team has been riddled with those who have broken the law and many who have eventually broken ties with Trump--it's a transient team with questionable intention and experience for the jobs they've been assigned. Instead of seeking the best and brightest, Trump sought friends and family--people who he felt a need to reward, compensate, or connect with. This group of friends and family members don't represent the vast diversity of Americans nor do they represent depth of experience and a selfless will to serve the United States and all Americans.

What do we do in the face of what I believe is a travesty and potentially the great American mistake--how do we counter Trump's offensive, self-serving, narrow-minded leadership. I think the best we can do is respectfully speak up for what is right and good, act for change, and do the right thing by fellow Americans in ways that we can.

Respectfully Speak Up and Act for Change
It will do no one any good to repeat the offensive words or disrespectful actions of the President. Instead we need to speak up and act for change with respect via channels that make a difference. We have to find ways to do this, ways that bring forth our best experience, skills, and will for change.

Do the Right Thing
In our own communities, professions, and the organizations we belong to, it's essential that we counter Trump's disrespect and passivity in the face of important matters with our best energy and effort. For me that means making the time and investing the energy into teaching and parenting well--the better I care for my children and family, the better I will do with respect to building a strong country. Everyone has areas they can invest time and energy into in order to better our communities, country, and world, and if we take this call seriously, it will be a good way to counter Trump's ill-directed efforts and results.
